Yamunotri Trek & Darshan
Begin the 6km trek (3 hours) through dense forests of rhododendron, pine, and deodar. Cross the suspension bridge over the Yamuna River. At the shrine complex, take a dip in Surya Kund — a boiling hot spring where pilgrims cook rice and potatoes in cloth bags as prasad. Darshan of the black marble Divya Shila representing the goddess Yamuna. The contrast of the freezing glacial river and the scalding hot spring in the same spot is a remarkable natural phenomenon. Descend to Janki Chatti by afternoon.
