Day-by-day itinerary

1. D1

   Lukla flight and trek to Namche Bazaar

   Fly to Lukla and trek through pine forests to Phakding. Follow the Dudh Koshi River, crossing suspension bridges adorned with prayer flags. Ascend to Namche Bazaar, the vibrant Sherpa trading town. Acclimatize with a hike to the Everest View Hotel. The Himalayan air is crisp, and the mountain energy is palpable.

2. D2

   Namche to Tengboche

   Trek through rhododendron forests with Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam visible ahead. Descend to the Dudh Koshi, then climb steeply through pine and juniper forest to Tengboche. The monastery appears dramatically on the ridge, backed by Ama Dablam's perfect pyramid. Check into a teahouse and attend the evening prayer ceremony.

3. D3

   Monastery blessings and Ama Dablam views

   Wake before dawn for the monastery's morning puja, listening to deep Tibetan chanting and the blast of long horns. Receive a blessing and a sacred kata (white scarf) from a senior monk. Walk to the ridge for unobstructed views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and the incomparable Ama Dablam. Visit the monastery's art collection and learn about Sherpa Buddhism.

4. D4

   Return trek via Khumjung monastery

   Descend through the village of Khumjung, visiting its historic monastery that claims to house a Yeti scalp. Continue to Namche and the next day trek back to Lukla. Celebrate the completion of your journey with the Sherpa staff who guided you through their ancestral homeland.
