Day-by-day itinerary

1. D1

   Day 1: Kathgodam to Lohajung

   Drive through the Kumaon hills to Lohajung, the base camp for the Roopkund trek.

2. D2

   Day 2: Lohajung to Didna Village

   Descend to the Neel Ganga river and climb through oak forests to the stone hamlet of Didna.

3. D3

   Day 3: Didna to Ali Bugyal

   Trek through dense forest and emerge onto the vast, green expanse of Ali Bugyal, one of Asia's largest meadows.

4. D4

   Day 4: Ali Bugyal to Patar Nachauni

   Walk along the ridgeline with views of Trishul and Nanda Ghunti, camping at Patar Nachauni.

5. D5

   Day 5: Patar Nachauni to Bhagwabasa

   Ascend to the high camp at Bhagwabasa, a stark boulder field beneath the pass.

6. D6

   Day 6: Bhagwabasa to Roopkund & Junargali, back to Patar Nachauni

   Climb to Roopkund Lake (15,696 ft) and optional Junargali pass for 360° views, then descend.

7. D7

   Day 7: Patar Nachauni to Lohajung via Bedni Bugyal

   Descend through Bedni Bugyal and its sacred lake, returning to Lohajung.

8. D8

   Day 8: Lohajung to Kathgodam

   Drive back to Kathgodam for onward trains or flights.
