Arrive at your riverside ashram or yoga school. Evening Ganga aarti at Parmarth Niketan or Triveni Ghat, where hundreds of oil lamps are set afloat on the river as priests chant Sanskrit mantras. Introduction to your teachers and the daily schedule.

Hatha Yoga Foundations
Begin with classical Hatha yoga — sun salutations, standing poses, inversions, and pranayama (breath control). Afternoon philosophy class on Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, focusing on the eight limbs (ashtanga) and the concept of chitta vritti nirodha (stillness of mind). Evening meditation on the riverbank.

Deep dive into pranayama techniques: nadi shodhana (alternate nostril breathing), kapalabhati (skull-shining breath), and bhastrika (bellows breath). Learn about the subtle body — nadis (energy channels), chakras (energy centers), and kundalini (dormant spiritual energy). Afternoon workshop on bandhas (energy locks) and drishti (gaze points).

The Ganges: Ritual & Purification
Morning ritual bath in the Ganges at a private ghat, understanding the river's spiritual significance in Hindu tradition. Visit the Neelkanth Mahadev Temple, where Shiva drank the poison that emerged from the churning of the cosmic ocean. Afternoon restorative yoga and yoga nidra (yogic sleep).

Meditation Techniques
Explore different meditation traditions: Vipassana (insight meditation), mantra meditation using the Gayatri mantra, trataka (candle-gazing concentration), and walking meditation in the forest. Each technique is taught by a specialist teacher from that tradition.

Ayurveda Introduction
Consultation with an Ayurvedic doctor to determine your dosha (body-mind constitution: vata, pitta, or kapha). Learn how diet, daily routine, and yoga practice should be tailored to your dosha. Afternoon cooking class in Ayurvedic vegetarian cuisine.

Advanced Asana & Teaching
For experienced practitioners: arm balances, backbends, and inversions. For beginners: refinement of foundational poses. All students learn basic teaching methodology — how to sequence a class, give safe adjustments, and cue effectively. Practice-teach a mini-class to fellow students.

Silent Day & Self-Practice
A full day of silence (mauna) — no speaking, no phones, no reading. All practices are self-directed: your own asana sequence, self-guided meditation, journaling. This is often the most transformative day of the retreat.

Morning satsang (spiritual discourse) with a visiting swami or guru. Afternoon integration workshop: how to maintain your practice after returning home. Create a personalized 30-day home practice plan. Evening celebration dinner and certificate ceremony.
