Day-by-day itinerary

1. D1

   Arrival & Desert Welcome

   Drive from Jaisalmer to Khuri village. Your Rajput host welcomes you with traditional tilak and a glass of chaas (buttermilk). Tour of the mud-walled home, the livestock enclosure, and the village water harvesting system. Evening folk music by the fire.

2. D2

   Camel Herding & Dune Life

   Morning with the family's camels — learn to saddle, feed, and (if brave) ride. Walk into the dunes with your host to understand how desert communities navigate without landmarks. Lunch of ker sangri (desert beans) and bajra roti. Afternoon rest during the heat.

3. D3

   Village Crafts & Women's Lives

   Visit local women making mojari (leather shoes), weaving rugs, and embroidering mirror-work textiles. Learn about the challenges of women's lives in the desert: water scarcity, distance from healthcare, and the recent arrival of mobile phones. Evening cooking class in Rajasthani desert cuisine.

4. D4

   Starlit Night & Departure

   Sleep on the rooftop under the Milky Way — the Thar has some of India's darkest skies. Pre-dawn wake for sunrise over the dunes. Final breakfast and departure to Jaisalmer.
