Day-by-day itinerary

1. D1

   Flight to Dhangadhi and drive to Silgadhi

   Fly to Dhangadhi in Nepal's far west. Drive through the Terai plains into the mid-hills to Silgadhi, the gateway to Khaptad. The landscape transitions from tropical to temperate forest. Stay overnight in Silgadhi and prepare for the trek.

2. D2

   Trek to Khaptad plateau and Baba Ashram

   Trek 4-6 hours through oak, rhododendron, and pine forests to the open plateau. Settle into basic teahouses or camp. Visit Khaptad Baba's simple ashram, where his meditation stone remains. Sit in silence where the sage meditated for decades. The atmosphere carries a palpable sense of peace.

3. D3

   Sacred sites exploration and meditation

   Visit Triveni, the sacred confluence of three rivers, for morning rituals. Hike to Sahasralinga to see thousands of natural Shiva lingams. Meditate at Khaptad Daha, a holy lake said to be guarded by a serpent deity. Walk through the 22 sacred meadows (Baais Patan). The silence and beauty support deep inner practice.

4. D4

   Return journey and reflection

   Trek back to Silgadhi, reflecting on the spiritual insights gained. Drive to Dhangadhi, visiting Tharu villages along the way. The return flight to Kathmandu offers aerial views of the landscape you walked through. This journey stays with you long after you return to city life.
