   Arrival at Guwahati & Brahmaputra Cruise

   Arrive at Guwahati and check into accommodation. Take an evening sunset cruise on the Brahmaputra River — one of the world's mightiest rivers. Visit the Umananda Temple on Peacock Island, the world's smallest inhabited river island. Learn about Assam's unique blend of Hindu Tantra and indigenous tribal traditions. Preparation: Kamakhya is a Tantric temple — approach with an open mind and respect for different forms of worship.

   Kamakhya Temple Darshan

   Early morning ascent to Nilachal Hill (4km from Guwahati). Enter through the western gate and walk through a maze of smaller shrines dedicated to the ten Mahavidyas (wisdom goddesses). The main sanctum contains no idol — a stone fissure moistened by a natural spring represents the goddess's yoni. Priests offer red cloth and sindoor. The atmosphere is intense: bells ring constantly, goats are sacrificed at the designated altar, and devotees chant mantras. Descend to visit the Basistha Ashram, where Sage Vashistha is believed to have meditated. Cultural learning: Understand how Shakti worship represents the divine feminine as the source of all creation.

   Navagraha Temple & Departure

   Visit the Navagraha Temple on Chitrachal Hill, dedicated to the nine celestial bodies of Vedic astrology. The temple was once an ancient center of astronomical study. Each shrine has a different colored stone representing a planet. Receive a Vedic astrology reading from a local pandit. Shop for Assam silk, bamboo crafts, and traditional Assamese jewelry before departure. Carry home Kamakhya sindoor (vermillion) believed to bless marriages and grant wishes.
