Morning darshan at Budhanilkantha
Arrive at the serene Shivapuri National Park entrance by 8:00 AM. Walk through lush forest to the temple. Remove shoes and stand on the platform for darshan of the magnificent black stone Vishnu floating in the water tank. Observe the fine detail: the crown, the discus, the conch shell, and the peaceful expression. Marigold petals float on the water's surface.

Shivapuri hike and Nagi Gompa
After darshan, hike into the Shivapuri National Park, one of Kathmandu's main water sources. The trail ascends through oak, rhododendron, and bamboo forest rich with birdlife. Visit Nagi Gompa, a Buddhist nunnery with panoramic valley views. Listen to the nuns chanting. The forest is alive with the sounds of birds and rustling leaves.

Return and Kopan Monastery visit
Descend via a different trail to Kopan village. Visit Kopan Monastery, a major Tibetan Buddhist center with golden roofs visible from the valley below. Attend a short meditation session if timing permits. Return to Kathmandu with a deeper appreciation of how Hindu and Buddhist traditions harmoniously coexist in Nepal.
